Project Recovery

Many Projects fail for a variety reasons (See: Key Causes of Project Failure) and require Project Recovery. Delivering Projects /Programmes successfully requires an extremely complex set of skills underpinned by solid practical experience to manage through the trials and tribulations involved in managing multiple dependent projects, whilst resolving issues between Stakeholders representing their own, (often opposing) requirements. It is therefore not uncommon for a Programme to go off-track and need specialised external resources to support Project Recovery.

Once it has become obvious that a Programme is failing to deliver to cost, quality or within the desired timeframes the knee-jerk reaction is normally to replace the Project/ Programme Manager. Although this may be the obvious symptom it is not normally the sole cause of the problem. The first stage of Project Recovery should be that a thorough assessment of the Project/ Programme be conducted. To identify where key problems exist and how they can be best resolved, whilst ensuring that Project Recovery can deliver the desired deliverables or outcomes and that the business case is still realistic and achievable.

The Transform Associates network encompasses a wealth of highly experienced Project/ Programme Managers who are adept at stepping-in to manage Projects /Programmes that require Project Recovery i.e. taking over responsibility for delivery, but also acting as coach and mentor to the existing team.
